Survival of the Unfit

One of Debbie’s strengths as a motivational speaker is discussing the topic of reclaiming one’s life after traumatic experiences. Drawing from Christian scripture and personal wisdom, Debbie can motivate your audience and help them overcome personal struggles that come from difficult life events.

Life After Abuse, Abandonment, Divorce and Abortion

Taken as a toddler from the mother she adored, Debbie was fearfully hidden under the tent of an evangelist. She was eventually found by her mother, whom she no longer remembered and placed in the care of someone where no little girl should be. Abandoned as her teen years dawned, Debbie perfected the art of survival; survival of an unloved, untended, unfit monumental mistake-maker.

Many years and many mistakes later, God pursued Debbie with His love shown through and by His people.

Debbie was befriended, accepted, and loved by a lady that drew Debbie in by her peaceful countenance that could only be explained by her faith. While a world away on the mission field, Debbie’s brother was awakened to fast and pray on her behalf. Yet another friend invited her to church where a salvation message concerning forgiveness was preached. God orchestrated all of that for His precious daughter and she accepted His forgiveness and grace. Pure love drifted through the deficiencies of her heart and replaced it with a hope for the future.

The Lord’s hope taught her to live fully forgiven; to love and be loved in spite of abuse, abandonment, divorce, attempted suicide and abortion.

As Debbie struggled to forgive herself and others, God gently took her through the process of healing. The blessings that God heaped on her during that process were beyond belief. Debbie believes we are blessed to be a blessing and we have a responsibility to share with others so that they might come to know Him.

1 Timothy 1:15-16 says “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners — of whom I am the worst. But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his unlimited patience as an example for those who would believe on him and receive eternal life.”

And they overcame him (Satan) by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony. Revelation 12:22
